Hi all. Im looking for a semi-decent laptop with about 8gb of ram and an AMD/ATI (whatever they're called now) graphics processor. I need it for college but Id also like to play games like GW2 and counterstrike go and playing 1080p or maybe bluray videos. . Nothing overly fancy.

Can it be done for a budget of €700 maximum?

Sorry if these threads are majorly overdone in here. :o

So, you're looking for a laptop with a full HD display (1080p) and a ATI/AMD GPU that can run Guild Wars 2 with all the bells n whistles... for 700 yoyos???

    I think not. :D

This 17.3" HP (1600x900) with Ivy Core i5 and HD 7670M should be as good as it gets within your budget. Leaves you with enough money to upgrade the memory to 8 GB.

Or this 15.6" Tosh (sightly outside your budget) with Ivy Core i7 quad, 8 GB RAM and same GPU but with 2 GB VRAM.

Or this 15.6" Sammy (just north of €700), AMD A-10, 8 GB RAM and a HD 7670M (I believe it works in Hybrid CrossfireX mode with the A-10s IGP HD 7660M)

Little consolation if the GPU can flip Solitaire cards at a mediocre FPS rate... at best. :D

I'd say the Samsung looks most interesting but reviews are scarce.

I like the look of the that `Samsung laptop. The 1tb HDD is a great plus. The only thing I dont like is the 3-4 hour battery life. I've never owned a laptop before but I get the feeling its something more around the 2hour mark or less when gaming.

Just some final silly questions. I presume that site is fairly trustworthy because I see it linked a good bit here. And shipping is free?
How are Samsung in general? Im wary of some brands and tend to avoid them for reasons. For example, I usually would avoid Sony and as stated in my op I prefer AMD to NVIDIA.

Komplett is quite popular around here indeed. Sometimes they do have pretty good deals. An yes, delivery is free.

According to this survey (from 2009), Toshiba's reliability record isn't the worst.

As for the battery life, don't expect too much. It has one of the most powerful mobile CPUs after all and when you're playing games with a dedicated GPU, the drain will be much higher than at regular use with the integrated graphics, so your mileage will vary. But that goes for any laptop with dedicated graphics.

    No free delivery, I'm afraid:
£9.95 - Non UK Mainland & North Scotland - 2-4 Days (North Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Isle of Man etc.)

And for the battery life goes the same as with the other laptops, if you're playing a game in dual graphics mode, don't expect it anywhere near the 3-4 hrs they claim.
