    Guys,

Looking at heading to cork, hoping to get a nice hotel on a deal mid week, eat somewhere nice, sight see, generally have a nice time, we are coming down from just outside Dublin area so really looking forward to few days of chill, we love a nice hotel but staff most important to us, really. Nice to feel relaxed and at home in a hotel,

Anyone been there recently or locals with knowledge please get in touch,

    Thanks

Are you thinking city or county?

We are interested in either, would like something outside city we think as we would like something relaxed and chilled but could be changed mind

Maryborough in Douglas is excellent. It has its own grounds, so even at the edge of the city ,it isn't noisy.

If the budget stretched to it, the hotel in Castlemartyr-now part of the Dromoland group,is lovely.

Are you going weekend or midweek?

It's worth trying to get a deal on a suite on top floor lovely rooms. Very relaxed great spa.

Best base would either be cork city, kinsale or clonakilty. All would have plenty of shops, restraunts and bars more in the order listed but nearby scenic areas would be in the opposite order.
Kinsale is about 25 mins from the city, clon is about 50. I wouldnt head any further west as a base as itll be a tough drive over and home.
