hi guys,im looking for some advice on satnavs,im open on the amount i can spend but anything up to 200e would be preferable,im aware that its best to stick with either garmin or tomtom and am leaning towards the tomtom brand,i bought a garmin nuvi 1310 about 20 months ago and it was a piece of junk, every second time i used it it froze, wrote off to garmin and although they were helpfull the unit was junk, probabley a monday morning unit,i bought 2 at the time,1 for myself and 1 for the sis in law and hers has had no issues.i was just unlucky but the affair has put me off garmin for life, about a week and a half ago i finally lost patience with it and it ended up in a ditch near dingle(i know,i could have been done for littering, actually turned the car around to pick it up but could not find it in the thorn bushes)i got a loan of the brothers tomtom about a year ago and it was a pleasure to use,i forget the model but it was a top end one and it was great to use so im going to give tomtom a bash and if anyone has a good unit they are happy with they might let me know, regards

The TomTom Go 1000 or 1005 are great devices . Once you get used to their live services you won't use anything else.

I've been using garmins for about 8 years with no problems .... I reckon you were just unlucky.
I'd recommend any garmin that includes lifetime mapping updates .... it will save you hundreds of €€€ over the long run.

TomTom don't use lifetime maps. You do get latest map guarantee .
You buy map update annually. They often come with 6 months free. TomTom does have the ability to transfer accounts from one device to another though.
