just wondering if i can use my windows 7 key with different computer?

i got a toshiba laptop with windows7 home pre-installed. if i download the legal windows 7 iso from the like of digital river and install this copy of windows onto my desktop can i use the key from the laptop to activate it. for legalitys sake i can delete windows 7 from the laptop. but just wondered is the key specific to…

There are multiple versions of Windows 7. Since the laptop version was pre-installed, it's more than likely the OEM version, in which case it is licensed to be only used on your laptop and can't be transferred to the Desktop.
