A brief clip of the new vampire movie from the man behind Interview with a Vampire was released today. Slightly creepy (well, it isn't that other vampire franchise! ;)) but still a nice teaser!

The movie follows a mother and daughter vampire pair who attempt to conceal their secret from the inhabitants of a small British town. Cast includes Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Arterton, Sam Riley and Jonny Lee Miller. It premieres at the the Toronto film festival.

Further details and the clip are here.

Well by the looks of that scene, Neil used his old gaff :D at Martello Terrace and Bray Promenade in the background.

Hmmm, this may have potential. In 1 minute it has established a creepier tone than most of the by the numbers horror ****e you see these days.

Jordan has been given too many chances over the years.

It's true that the Irish media give the man quite a bit of support and his movies are very hit-or-miss. I felt that Ondine was terrible and that last one that I truly enjoyed was The Brave One with Jodie Foster - a very powerful and gritty revenge tale.

As Handsome Bob said, this short clip certainly sets an eery tone and atmosphere. Very interesting and could be one of those hits!

The Brave One was very underrated, great film imo with a great performance from Foster surprised it didnt do better at the box office

I like the look of this plus Saoirse Ronan can do no wrong :p

That clip seems a tiny like the excellent Thirst and Let the Right One In. Hope the rest of it lives up.

I can’t help thinking there should be a ban on vampire material for approx. 10 years.

Not by any means a classic. Watchable for sure, but 2 hours of nothing much happening

How would it compare to say.. Let the Right One In? That admittedly didn't really have much going on, but was still an excellent movie.

    it's completely different

byzantium isn't a thriller/horror or anything like it. it's a drama about a couple of vampires

Seen this last night and loved it.

Loved the pace of it and felt there were no lulls at all, was gripped throughout.

Didn't really feel like a new film at all, was like watching a 90's film almost.

Can't wait to see it again on larger screen with a bigger crowd.

Was ok, enjoyed it but not much happened in the film.

I would describe it as good, not great. There's certainly some great, original, ideas but I just found it a bit tedious at times.

On a side not, the hospital scenes rang a bell for me but couldn't put my finger on why, but then I saw the neon lit tunnel and realised it was my old haunt UCD. :pac::pac::pac::pac:

I liked this quite a lot; the OH described it as Jordan remaking Interview With A Vampire by way of Let The Right One In and London To Brighton.

Visually the direction is confident, the pace is solid throughout (considering it's quite a talky film and not a great deal actually happens), and the performances are really good - Saoirse Ronan and Caleb Landry Jones are great, and even Gemma Arterton manages to be reasonably good (where I'd generally consider her to be about 1 step above Keanu Reeves).
