DCU Student Registration

    Couple of questions.

    1. Where do I register online for my course.
The only thing I could find in relation to this was http://www.dcu.ie/finance/fees/credit_card_payment.shtml
Where I can pay fees, on an unsecured page I might add.

    2. I am waiting on Susi to pay my fees. I am just wondering if anyone else has got their Susi payment yet.

    https://www.dcu.ie/registration/

Alot of people have payed the fees while the grant is being approved apparently if you pay the college they'll give you the check from susi when it comes through.

Where how on earth am I supposed to come up with the money? On Btea which I won't get until I prove I have registered. I have to relocated to attend DCU which means coming up with a months rent plus deposit, and then pay the fees out of thin air before I have even started the course.

Typical Irish Scenario: I was not allowed, to register for Susi until a few week ago, even though my offer came in May. Now I have no money coming in, from BTEA Until I fesh up Fees which, I a entitled to a waiver on. Before I can receive money.

I'm in kinda the same boat, I rang SUSI this morning and they said that I am provisionally eligible for fees.

I am going to the fees office on Monday with this information. I am expecting to be told that I will have to pay the fees until I get written confirmation from SUSI.

Don't know where the money is going to come from though :(

@ Plain p: Did they ask you, for any additional documents.

I emailed and rang the Fees office in DCU. I sent them the SUSI letter which stated that I am deemed eligible to progress to the next round, I even told them that an SUSI staff member told me personally that I will get the grant. But DCU Fees Office told me that it isnt sufficient. That I need the letter of Grant Approval b4 I can register!

I dont have the money and I dont know what will happen. Can I still register when my grant comes through which will be in about a months time?

They are very careless. I sent them all the documents but they told me that 4 of them re missing, that I will have to resend them!.

So many people here on Boards are complaining about the same issue! The are careless, lazy and reluctant

He just said that I would need to send in confirmation of acceptance, I didn't know what this was until I saw someone else post a PDF in another thread. He said to wait till they were in contact with me before I send it. Sorry I can't stick a link in of the PDF I'm on my phone.

Hope you dont mind telling me the name of the college that you re about to start? As for DCU, regardless of what you do, you must pay 60% of your Fees b4 registration. Tell me how you ll go about this cos im on the same boat with you

It's DCU, I don't know what I'm going to do either. The system is so flawed.....

We are both on the same boat in DCU!. I suppose we all have to wait until our Grant approval letter comes through.

My most worry is that registration might close and we may lose our BTEA by the time the Grant approval letter comes through.

I'm just after reading through my BTEA approval letter and there is no closing date on it. It just says to send in the letter upon registration. Now I'm in receipt of OPFP so it could differ for me as I will swap from one payment to the other.

Cool, well glad to know that I can get my BTEA anytime. What about DCU tho, can I still register like in a months time? Any idea?

I am scared as they may also give my college position to someone else really. its very possible!.. Plus 170euro late registration Fee

I'm not too sure about DCU, I don't think they can give your place away though unless you drop out or something?

I'd say the fees office will be very busy with people wondering the same thing as us.

I think every college can give your position to someone if they want to.

Believe me, as far as DCU is concern, there arent so many people like us there. Their are many Free Fees student which is fair to them, but their arent many EU Fees students

I just rang up the Grant Office and asked them to send me a letter of approval. I have it now and all I have to do is bring it into DCU and they'll update my amount owed on the registration page.

However, I didn't apply through SUSI so it might be a little different. Is there anyone you can ring to get them to send ye the letter of approval?

As noted by you, SUSI is different. I have rang them numerous times asking them about the letter or something in similar, but to no avail.

They are running around like headless chickens in that office, even losing peoples documents and asking them to resend them which happened to me and various others.

They can never send me a letter until its finally approved on their system, which may take months!

That's really crap. However, since there's so many people in the same situation surely DCU will allow a little leeway? I've never had to deal with grants or the fees office before this year so I've no idea how it works but I find it absolutely ridiculous if they're expecting ye to cough up registration fees out of nowhere when you're expecting to get a grant.

If no one in the fees office is being cooperative, I would advise contacting one of the SU reps. They might be able to help you out and college authorities might be more willing to listen to them!

Haha, they even suggest that I get a loan from a bank. Unbelievable. Now I have to pay 60% of my fees which is about 4000 euro. which bank will lend an unemployed student that kinda amount.

I was also expecting a leeway since DCU have existed for so many years and have the same issue with students. But sadly and surprisingly, they dont!. You either pay or feck off
