Alternative to VF Sure Signal?

So I just moved and the coverage around my new place is horrible. Started to look into getting a signal booster but they are all quite expensive and I think the ones I have been looking at are either dodgy Chinese tech or commercial stuff that is way more than I need.

I am with 48, which uses the O2 network. VF's Sure signal is not for me cause I am told it only works with the VF network, which does not surprise me as its their product for their clients. I was wondering though, does O2 have one that I have missed? Or is there a generic one that I can buy that wont cost me €150+?

    Any suggestions or help welcome

    Thanks

gman, thats a wired device. Would mean I would have to physically attached to the cable with the mobile phone while making a call. Not what I was looking for.

    Thanks though

You don't have to physically attach your mobile to this device, as it takes a better GSM signal from outside your house, feeds it through an amp and rebroadcasts the signal (wirelessly) through another emitter inside your house.

Sorry you are right, when I looked at it first I looked at a review but that was for a specific model that required it being attached. Was for a car.

Its bloody expensive though, €200+ D:

Just so you know .. As I've had a painful few weeks going down this route. :)

    - Those ebay devices etc. are illegal (you don't have a license to broadcast on those frequencies, so you can't use unless provided by a company who does have an Irish licence)..
    - The equipment I received was extreme low quality (and didn't work). No power from power supply (or power aDarter as was stamped on it.. 5v 3amp.. the replacement which took a month to be shipped was 12v 2amp). My own replacement power supply still failed to fire the unit up.
    - They are shipped from China (so you risk both customs charges and shipping admin charges for dealing with customs (i think DHL charge about 20 quid).
    - In the event of a return you will have to send back to China.. if using Paypal they will want it tracked and signed for upon return (An Post cost for 2.5Kg package was ~€85)

It might work in which case great (bar the illegality), but in my case it was a pain in the butt and a waste of time and money dealing with the company and Paypal..

I am now waiting for the Sure Signal unit to arrive.. (not the result I wanted, but the best I could get given the circumstances).

Hope you get your situation sorted, but I thought it was worth mentioning the issues I had, so you can avoid as much hassle as possible whatever decision you make.
