I've been posting around boards on this , hopefully this is the best forum.

I want to get one of those little Android devices to make my TV "Smart"

I would like something that will take an upgrade to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. I have seen only one on Ebay.
Most of the units that I see are missing a component, or are very expensive.

    I'd like HDMI out,
    Lan
    GPU and CPU
    1GB Ram
    SD slot
    WIFI (not essential)
    Remote control
USB host (no requirement for a powered hub)
    ICS Android 4 minimum

anyway is there on that guys are using with a remote (or air remote). There are so many options on Ebay.

I see the C10 chip is speced at 1.5GH
Some of the specs split this at 1Gh for the CPU and 0.5GH for the GPU,
is this a split architecture chip? the reason I'm asking is that I would imagine that a separate GPU is a must for non laggy 1080p movies, I've never been a fan of any combined CPU/GPU product but I'm open to be educated. Maybe this is a dual core unit with one core for CPU and one for GPU?

Finally I have seen some nice G box units, there are some kind of android XBMC combi, I don't know what makes it a combi, I would imaging that with android you could just run an XBMC app on it,

So is anyone using one of these for Netflix etc with a decent remote? I've seen guys selling the 256MB Ram units on adverts, some are upgrading so there must be a good reason.

    thanks for the advice.
    The XBMC unit

    another I'm looking at

although this has no Lan it looks the most powerful for the money

OK so it seems that the A10 is only a name, its really A8 architecture. We have A5, A7, A8, A9 and A15 on the arm site, so the A9 options are better than A8, A15 is better again the A5 and A7 are smaller units using less power, but here are a number of A9 designs some with 2 or 4 cores better graphics on some, it can be difficult to figure out which A9 chip is in the advertised devices, however it does appear that ha AllWinner A10 chip is a dressed up renamed chip using A8 architecture.
