Set up looks too hunched over, you need to get more upright and that way your left shoulder would not be pushing your head up in the back swing. Right leg looks a bit straight and locked.
Hard to tell with the distance on the 5 iron but the right had grip looks a bit weak.

Agree with comment about you being hunched, I think your hands are too low, stand a little taller and perhaps move a bit further away from the ball. You need to use some alignment sticks to check your setup, on the drive your feet are pointing into the trees on the right, closed stance will lead to you snap hooking the ball, drag your left foot back a couple of inches and get your shoulders parallell with yur feet

Looks like a very good swing to me. But what would I know?

Not bad, with the 5 iron shot I would make the following observations.
    1. Ball looks a little far forward in your stance
    2. You are trying to scoop the ball at impact. You need to focus on trapping the ball against the turf and allowing the loft of the club do the work. You should start taking a divot after the ball as your ball striking improves...

I find practicing some half swings with a nine iron and focusing on hitting down on the back of the ball really helps.

cheers guy's.. i never knew i hunched over so much, looks dreadful! will try standing more upright while playing tomorrow. the 5 iron shot was a complete duff..i purposely placed the ball further forward my stance. just inside left heel. seems to be recommend a lot on youtube vids. the angle of my feet is ok for the drive as you have to aom just left of the tree on that particular hole..great distance on the drive too. it's amazing when i look at the vid how low my hands are when diving. i think everyone should make a vid of their swing. it's a real eye opener.

I would say decent tempo for starters.
Hunched over and as a result standing too far from the ball.
Swing is too flat and too far behind you,try swinging more across your feet and a bit steeper.

What is ur normal shot shape?with that swing u need to have ur timing bang on,do you tend to hit a lot of slices with ur irons and more hooks with ur driver?

All things said ,for a 17 hcpr if you get a few basics sorted you'll improve a lot.
A swing like that is like a pros dream imo,a few basics changes.

The main thing imo is you're swing is not 'on plane' if you get you're hand position at the top of the swing sorted you will feel the difference between sweeping the ball away which ur doing now and trapping the ball ie.hitting down on the ball.

you're spot on with the driver i do hook a fair few..the irons i tend to fade naturally, always had a left to right flight. having trouble with short irons off the tee in particular. i haven't been getting good contact off the tee. i've been questioning my position when addressing the ball over last few weeks..maybe im standing too far away..i'll try change that up tomorrow. as for my normal shot shape..i really dont know. this vid has opened my eyes. im gona try correct the back hunch..not sure where to start though.

set up to the ball like an athlete, don't slouch.
Do you see Tiger bent over?
    Your height is your friend.

Nozebleed.... When you set up to hit ur iron make sure the blade is straight,ie.no gap at the toe of the club.
You look quite tall, did you get fitted for ur clubs?I'm guessing not, could be worth looking at the lie angle but first you gotta get us set up sorted.

well im 6ft. thin as opposed to being really tall. i didin't get fitted no,standard mp53 mizuno, stiff shaft...i continually question how the iron face should impact the ball. im not quite sure what to be doing. i've tried angling the toe slightly in the air when playing from the fiarway. i#ve tried closing the club face,i assume the blade must be parallel to the ground when striking through the ball..to be honest im at the stage where thinking about these things is the problem!

The problem with ur iron shot on the vid as I see it is a swing that's way too flat.
You're initial set up in terms of ur hand position in relation to the ball is good.I can't see ur grip so can't comment on that,ur mate was standing miles away.

You have excellent timing and good rhythm. If you really want to improve find a pro near you and get a lesson on the fundamentals. Write down what is said and you can refer back to it any time for free! That is what most of the best teachers suggest.

Getting advice from average golfers who are not trained to teach and diagnose problems is the absolute worst way to learn golf and leads to lots of analysis and usually no progress due to the many conflicting pieces of advice you will receive.

There is no reason that you could not be a single figure golfer in a short time if you get the correct coaching.

You didn't quote correctly ,anyway, what you said is correct but the op asked for info and got some.

Btw,you don't know if we are all average golfers, some of the best advice I've ever got has come from really good golfers who were not pros.
Being a teaching pro is a bit like the oap's who are still driving cars around having passed their test years ago.

I take your point, and feel that the op was looking for advice as to how he might improve. I answered from a different viewpoint as to what he could do to give himself the best chance of significant progress going forward. He really appears to have good rhythm and timing to start with.

I was not having a go at people who were helping from an alternative viewpoint and making suggestions as to how to improve his swing based on the videos shown As you said, sometimes excellent advice can be given by other non professional golfers, but mostly too many cooks spoil the broth in my opinion as there is no coherent plan to improve when many different ideas are advanced by many different people.

I don't really understand the point you finish with or the connection between teaching pros and old age pensioners, perhaps you might explain?

thanks for the replies lads they're all helpful...just to clarify i wasn't really looking for pointers as such,i can see whats wrong with my swing..what surprised me was i wasn't aware how exaggerated my lurching had become..when i started back playing earlier this summer i wasn't hunched over like this at all..no idead why im doing it now. i just needed people to state the obvious about my swing..the main reason for posting the vid is having watched it a few times (over & over!)..i think everyone should make a vid..maybe dedicate a thread to swing vids/corrections etc..

There's a good thread here with plenty of various examples of swings but no recent updates.

+1 on videoing your swing, it's amazing how your perceptions of your swing differ to what the camera picks up. Well worth doing every couple of months as a means of keeping things in check.

went out today and shot 37pts off 17..tried straighten my back over my shots. driving was better but my iron shots are still a bit iffy. i also opened my stance a little and that seems to help with the driver. not sure im swinging fast enough with my irons..i just dont seem to get the right contact/feel. anyway thanks for the replies. i'll update my vid in a few months just for the craic.
