    Hi,

I'll be starting an up-to 6 month role in Dublin 4 (Ballsbridge, nr Lansdowne Road) on Monday 17th September and obviously need accommodation.

The wife will be with me sometimes (so double bed required), much of the time I'll be by myself.

Ideally I'm looking for a 1 bed studio/flat, although a nice house-share would do. I've said "up-to 6 months" as occational I've found I've been shoe-horned into a role I can't do and thus have moved onto pastures new quickly. I've basically been offered a 6 month role so expect to be in Dublin 6 months but that might change.

I'll be bringing the car over but I've heard that commuting by car in Dublin is a bit of a nightmare so would be using public transport to get to nr the Lansdowne Road DART stop.

Any hints, tips, suggestions to do with accommodation much appreciated, as well as hints & tops of areas I should look at that are easily commutable into that DART stop.

Hi couldn't see anything below 1k p/m on Daft in the D4 area with a 6 month lease.
There is other 1beds in South City - Dublin 6 , for example, but thats a bit out of the way with 6 mth lease.
Maybe try ringing anything you see around D4 in your range, and explain your situation, the LL might prefer to rent than wait.

    Thanks for your help.

I've no experience of commuting from other areas to end up in Dublin 4 (Landsdowne Road).

If it's not so bad (like, under 45 mins), what areas do you recommend I search for accommodation in/avoid?

On the dart line if you want to use public transport. Anywhere really on the south side of the line, Blackrock would be the best of them. You would be in Lansdowne Rd station in about 10 mins from there.
On the northside Clontarf would be the best.

OR get a large flat in the city centre, and take bus to work, northside tends to be cheaper in than southside, maybe look at studio flats, see daft.ie or www.rent.ie .
