Hdip in secondary education

    Hi all,

I'm currently looking to reapply for a hdip in secondary education in Ireland, but if I have to I'll also look at the UK. I applied through www.pac.ie in 2009 for the September 2010 year, but I was not successful. Since then I left Ireland and moved to Australia, but I am looking to come back and hopefully get in a course starting September 2013. I was wondering if the entry requirements have changed. I graduated with a QCA of 2.85, (didn't take second year serious, high B average in 4th year) from Mary I in 2009, and I have over 150 hours of Tefl teaching experience. What I really need to know is will I be wasting my time applying in Ireland or should I concentrate on the UK. If so, what is their application process like?

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Did you calculate your points? On the PAC website it shows how you do this. Your experience will definitly help you! (I assume you can prove your experience - they look for that now). Also if you were in Mary I - what did you do? Also check your course with the Teaching Council list of recognised subjects to see what you can teach before doing the course. You could apply to both and see what happens - I got my dip on the second attempt. I hope this helps.
