I could do with some advice. I was thinking of buying a cheapish table for occasional use. Pixmania are offering
ARCHOS 7 home tablet - 8 GB for €99 is it waste of money. I usually use a desktop & laptop.

    Thanks

Don't buy a Nexus 7, no rear camera.

I'm not so sure that a rear facing camera on a tablet makes a whole lot of sense tbh. The camera on the ipad is terrible even if you found a reason to use it. On the otherhand, on a phone it makes a lot of sense & is far more practical.

Also I got a Nexus 7 last weekend & it's fantastic. It's fast & it just works flawlessly.

However it really all depends on your needs, but IMO the nexus 7 is great value for money.

There are going to be a heluvalot of tablets released in the next 2 months, just announced today you've got the Amazon Kindle Fire/HD/HD pro. Many manufacturers will be bringing out their latest Android tablets in time for Christmas. Apple are set to announce the much rumoured new 7" iPad on the 12th of September. And to top it all October 26th will be the launch of Windows 8/RT with probably a dozen tablets on sale including the Microsoft surface.

I would hold off buying right now because competition for Christmas will be fierce.

Friend of mine got what I consider to be an amazing 100 euro tablet there last week. Runs ICS. 1GHz processor. Video playback is great. Screen looks super. Build quality is great. Very, very impressed with it. I'll get you a link.

It's gone up to 135. Might be worth looking at alternative suppliers. The 8G version is around 120 though.

    Hi,
    So I'm the friend

I got it when the deal was 129 with free Fedex. Good to keep an eye on the site. I actually ordered the 16Gb version and got a 8gb one. The were very good and sent out a 16Gb microSD as a sorry.

Screen on this table is amazeballs, it's as good as my other HP touchpad.
Perfect for browsing web, about 90% games(some just FC), Any video i've thrown at it.

Battery is good, 3 days train(45 mins each way) watchin videos and playing games on a charge, Also Standby is great. abotu 25% rediction on standby over 5 days.

There is good support for Allwinner chips out there, There is a JellyBean rom in availabe now, but i've not installed.

This is a tablet for someone who can flash firmwares and minor tinkering.

If you want out of the box perfectness I'd go a bigger name and pay more cash.

But the build quality is brilliant. I am still suprised.

I was recently on a helicopter sight-seeing trip in the Canadian Rockies. We were told beforehand that ipads were not allowed on board, not because of any problems with the electronics, but because they can obscure the view for other passengers......I was on coaches and trains as well, and the ipads were a right pain.
