so am i correct in saying that i will have to sign off
my partner will need to sign on and claim for herself and for 1 child
we have one car only and i will have to travel possible 60-70 miles a day
    she will have no transport

You will have to sign off if you are starting full time employment that has nothing to do claiming FIS.
If you arent working full time you might be entitled to claim casual jobseekers while you are waiting to recieve FIS.
As for your wife applying at the local office Im not fully sure what you are asking.IF she wants to claim jobseekers she will be expected to sign on .
