Big oil buying the US presidency using taxpayers money

So we all know Romney is a shill for big oil, but does anyone else think its a disgrace that the big oil companies are being allowed to use taxpayers money to promote his campaign?

The big oil companies have contributed the majority of Romneys campaign funds. In return Romney has promised them:

- Huge tax breaks (at the expense of American taxpayers of course)
- Taxpayers will fund oil exploration in the US. So taxpayers have all the costs while the big oil companies reap all the benefits iwthout having to risk anything themselves.
- Romney has also promised to allow Israel to attack Iran which will disrupt world oil supplies and cause prices to sky rocket, which will result in record profits for the oil companies involved with the Romney campaign.
- Romney has promised to cut all funding and incentives for green energy, and increase America's dependence on oil.

The reason big oil want this presidency so bad is because green energy is taking so much market share from them. Green energy is developing at a startling pace, costs are rapidly going down, efficiency is rapidly going up, and if things were left as they are now green energy consumption would actually match oil consumption in 10 years time. So big oil need to stop the progress of this. This is big oils last chance to milk consumers for all their worth before they succumb to green energy.

Big oil successfully crushed electric trains in the 1930s and 1940s, they successfully held back the electric car by 20 years by buying battery patents, and now they attempting to hold back cheap green energy by installing one of their own in the US presidency.

For all those who thought the recent 8% rise in energy costs was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet.

I'll just pick you up on this bit - would you be able to link to some support for this claim?

(I agree with your general point about organisations - not just businesses - buying political power in the US)

Chevron and GM worked together to kill electric cars in the 1990's:

I agree that the influence big corporations have is way too much - it's hardly even a conspiracy.

But then again, does anyone believe Romney has a chance of winning - looks to me like the oil companies are going to fail this time.

If they also gave money to Obama's campaign that would be a different story (maybe they do, I haven't checked). That would mean they don't care who wins, as long as the winner owes them something.

The answer might be in the propoganda videos for each candidate.
Remember McCains promotional video promoted Obama last time.
They might have gone with more of an oppositional strategy as it may be too obvious to pull that same stunt again.
But thats where id start.

Maybe its a fake, because its just too easy to show elections are rigged this way.Anything this easy cant be real.
But if its not....

Paid for by John McCain during the last elections apparently.

Nobody would answer or respond to this in the Obama cult thread, so il just post it here haha.

I spent about 20 minutes looking for campaign ads for bothcandidates.
Kind of hard to find.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KXzrqgYJUg
So far It looks like Romneys vids are making Obama look like a "nice guy" as he has stated in speeches.
So to me it looks like Obama might have aleady been chosen to win.
I would need to see more vids as i could only find 1 Romney campaign ad for colorado so far.

Post them if you find them or link me please :)

What kind of response would you like, T? It's clearly an attack ad or a spoof that cuts bits of speeches and discussions and takes them out of context to play on the fears of the American religious nutters than Obama is the anti-Christ.

You mean an attack on McCain?
I am thinking it might be a spoof. But so far nobody seems to think so.
I cant find any info on it about being fake.Id appreciate it if someone else could clear that up.

It is from the last election and the McCain camp made the video.

It is an attack on Obama.

Ok then you must be in denial in my oppinion. How can you say that was an attack?!!?
He called him "the one", sang his praises and then posed the question at the end.."but is he ready?" the answer being yes, from watching that.
I still feel like ive set myself up on that one lol
Its way too obvious it complements Obama instead of campaigning for the actual candidate its supposed to support.

Surely 1 person in McCains party along the line had a few hours at least of experience or common sense, to tell them that its better to be seen than what you say.
They gave Obama a double helping.
Imagine two Obama ads one negative and one positive..."er who was the other guy again?..nevermind il vote Obama"

What im curious about is if anyone has some more Romney and Obama ads for this latest election coming up.
If its as telling as the last one then we should know who will win before it happens.
And if i feel confident on seeing that is the case, i will stick my neck out and you can quote me on it lol
So far i have only seen one Romey ad.
And im guessing the important ads will be cloer to the voting time to have a stronger effect.

When does the voting start?

by the way if y theory is correct it may mean that election fraud is not as prevailent as i had thought, since they would not need such extreme measures to swing the vote.

Ah come on T, this is disappointing. Surely you can see that they are trying to portray Obama as if he thinks he is the new Jesus?

To a nation of fanatic christians? Id say thats a bad idea.
Look at the new reporter asking Obama had he any doubts and his reply.Take the feeling from that scene alone and its quite positive for Obama.
Honestly if you think thats an attack, you can flame me anyday :)

Maybe i should make a new thread on election coercion or something and make a poll on that video.
Because im suprised anyone can argue that is an attack on Obama.
I was making a simple point to show that in this next election the same trick might be pulled again to get either one of the cadidates elected.

I'll try one more time.

This is an attack on Obama.

The ad takes clips of things that Obama said in speeches and discussions.

It then organises these clips to give a certain impression of Obama.

The impression they try to give is that Obama THINKS that HE is the new messiah.

This is intended to scare the crap out of religious nutters in the US who are always on the lookout for the ANTI-CHRIST.

It is also intended to make him look bad to moderate people who don't like the idea of voting for someone who thinks he is the saviour or whatever.
Is it clear now? I'm genuinely baffled how you can't see this.

I guess we will have to repsect our differing oppinions on that one.
I get what your saying and i see that.
But i still see the reult being different from the "intention" by far.
