    Is it possible to video FTA programmes on a VCR?

    Yes. You would normally connect the scart from the Sat receiver to the scart of the VCR. Then run a second scart from the VCR to the TV. On the VCR select channel AV1 or AV2 as appropriate.

    If the scart connectors on the VCR have labels on them connect the one that says TV to the TV. The other one may say decoder so connect that one to the satellite receiver.

    When you can see the satellite signal on the TV via the scart on the VCR then pressing record should work.
