I have a UPC recording box. I'm in need of an external HDD. Can I just buy a caddy. Open the box and take out the HDD ?

Are the drives 2.5 or 3.5

I don't think UPC would take too kindly to you removing the HDD from their set top box.

You don't own the HDD box so UPC wouldn't be best pleased, no.
