Anyone have an idea when most of the newer line laptops will start to ship Windows 8 as standard?

As soon as it is going to be officially released (October 24th)

also is it worth paying a little more compared to Windows 7?

Why would you want to pay more for something that is expected to be cheaper than Windows 7 (not least because Microsoft decided not to pay royalties for DVD/BR codecs).

    I didn't realise that,well that is interesting!

The OEM licences range from $60-80 for Windows 8 to $80-100 for Windows 8 Pro (with Office).

Windows 7 OEM licenses range from $100 (Home Premium) to $175 (Ultimate)
