Is Docklands not being used any more?

I have had reason to take the train from Ashtown towards town a lot lately. A number of times I have tried to get a train to Docklands but it appears that trains originating from M3 Parkway are going to Connolly and not Docklands.

Is this the case? If so why? I thought the whole point of Docklands was that Connolly was over-capacity.

M3 Parkway trains go to and from Docklands at peak hours Mon-Fri. Off-peak they go to Connolly or Pearse. That has always been the case.

Is it really that hard to find the timetable on the Irish Rail website (genuine question)?

    Times are here:

I wasn't trying to be smart, but the timetables are very clearly linked on the home page.

It really is a bit of a waste of a (fairly fancy) station.

I pity any tourist who looks at IE's Dublin map and thinks they can use Docklands to go to a gig in the National Convention Centre at the weekend.

Wasn't Docklands built under a temporary permission which had to be extended? In theory it's not supposed to be there any more, making way for the interconnector underground one, right?

I pity any person who looks at a map and presumes they can get a train at any time they please without checking a timetable, but you know, that's just me.

Well this is CIE I suppose, so just because a train station is in the middle of the capital city doesn't mean you can depend on it to actually have trains.

Supposedly Noel Dempsey was encouraging CIE to seek permanent planning permission back in 2008, since he gave Broadstone to the RPA for use for Luas Broombridge. Whether this ever happened, I've no idea. The Interconnector seems unlikely to ever happen now at any rate.
