Sorry for being pedantic but it's a Zetec. I've seen it spelt worse mind you - Z'tech, Vtec, Zeetok etc.

Those early MkIII Mondeos suffered from butterfly value failure in the inlet manifold which could destroy the engine. They were redesigned in late 2003 so I'd be looking at the facelifted 2004 onwards model to be safe.

Or better still have a look at a Mazda 6 petrol, just as good to drive as the Mondeo, cost around the same to buy and uber reliable. You will buy a 2003/2004 for similar money.
