Hey! Doing Human Genetics too :) ! Said I'd look up all that stuff in advance this summer and get a head start but never got round to it :L ! Can't wait, having to wait another week for college is killing me!

That was my plan too, but I just got too lazy to even look over the biology chapter haha! There's 14 more of us out there somewhere! Are you accommodating or gonna commute?

I posted on TCD Freshers page and got 5 I think! It's cool that it's such a small class! We'll have to break the tension straight away and all go on the piss! Had a 50 genetic ideas you have to know book, said I'd finish it and get some Computer Science done...but no, drink as always had it's way! Living in Halls, from Castlebar originally. you?

Hopefully a good Freshers week night on the piss will break the ice :D I think we're with the general science crowd for most lectures, but we've definitley got an ethics with just the Human Gen crowd :) I'll be commuting from Celbridge, which is gonna be a bitch in the mornings and for nights out, woo nitelink fights :S

Yous have it right, first two years you'll be in the same classes as Science and some other smaller courses. You have your own meet ups for just Human Genetics and in second year you have a few assignments and presentations to give. 3rd and 4th year you begin to specialise in Human Genetics, though will still share a few modules with some of the other courses.

Can't say for myself as I'm only in Science, but the people I know who are in it all seem to really love it. Have yet to hear a complaint about the genetics department. They seem kind of familyish in a way. They have a Christmas party every year where you get to meet the rest of the department and students in the other years.

Anyways, gratz on getting in and hope you all enjoy it! Any questions feel free to ask!

Great to hear the course socialises haha! Don't know anyone going to TCD really and was afraid the human gen people would be academic nerds :D no offence Comrade C!

The banter will be had! Ah here man, you can have my couch any night you need it. You're right though, if I lived close to Dublin there's no way my parents wouldn't make me commute :L ! Yeah, figured that alright, I just want to get a foot in the genetic dept. early on. No offence taken, I looked at some of the summer results from last year's exams though! A lot of people get firsts in that course

First year, everyone is just looking to pass. Second year, there's a few scholarships given out to the genetics classes to the people with the top few results. The Summer after 3rd year the ones with the scholarships have the choice to go abroad for a few months to work in a lab (accomodation and the likes paid for). Couple people went to Harvard this Summer.

3rd year is when it starts counting toward your degree, so don't stress too much about studying the moment you get in. You'll find rythmn that works for you eventually. Make sure to do your lab reports though, they're worth a lot when it comes to Summer! Just enjoy it though, the time will fly by :D

Might take you up on that offer some night! Though a floor is just as good when you're pissed :L Yeah I chose Human Gen. to avoid the risk of not getting general genetics through Science, I heard theres a good bit of competition for it. I don't think I'll be among all those firsts, I'll be the guy who just scrapes by :D Hopefully since there's a small course the geniuses will give a hand to the slower ones...

Take it up whenever man! Me and my mate got landed in a twin room so the study desk is always free for a sleep too! Yeah, I was thinking that myself! It's the same in every science course now since genetics is becoming so popular! Haha don't worry, we'll work as a unit :P
Cheers Dubz, that's good to know :)
