The rear seats have been removed. The luggage/drawer system is in place taking up the space from behind the front seats all the way to the rear doors of the vehicle.

In your opinion, will I have to put the seats back in and take the luggage/drawer system out for the NCT (yes, NCT not DOE).

I very much doubt you'll have to revert it,

I once nct'd a car that had a full roll cage with x bars at the doors & no rear seats, door cards or interior only a dashboard etc

    No problems in that sense,

it failed alright but on noise and emissions :pac:

They can only test what they're presented with. SO if you've no rear seats fitted they cant say you need rear seatbelts etc.

If you're going on an expedition, will you really need an NCT? Unless it's to Leitrim.

Not an answer to the question I asked.

I called in to the NCT centre with the 'cruiser and got one of the examiners to look at it. He said it will not be a cause to fail but a note will be added to say the seats were not present when tested.

Thanks to those of you who replied constructively.

To drive in a foreign country your vehicle has to be road legal in your home country. Just because our police force can't be arsed checking the legality of foreign vehicles doesn't mean other countries don't, in some (not too far from Leitrim) they actually take you to jail if your not road legal in your home country.

I thought as much, they can only test what ya stick in front of them to test... once it's not the obvious things like brakes etc!!

Rommel passed it's NCT with a note added - "No seat fitted in rear".

I have been thinking of doing this and may get to do it sometime. I like to bring it up to Sally gap in the snow though and there are normally lots of passengers that like to go. I like to go on the odd local camping trip with my grandsons and of course need seats. It's not my daily drive and sits in the driveway more than is driven. The Moroccan trip was last April.

Where did you get that 76 Series in Ireland? I didn't htink you could get the 70's in UK or Ireland?

What engine you got in there? I've got an old 75 series with the 1HZ motor.

    Yes the 70 was available in Ireland. It's a 78, KZJ78, so it's a 3.0L and has the 1KZTe engine. It's a Japanese import.

Wow ! That is absolutely gorgeous ! I'm soon starting to overland prep a series 80. Could you point me in the right direction for kit ? In particular drawer systems, ARB bumpers/rack & suspension upgrades. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I can put you in touch with the person who owns this....

.... he was on the trip with us.

Everything I did to my 70 he did to his 80. He was a great help and inspiration to me. He knows Landcruisers inside out and owns lcoc.ie.

I'll send you a pm with his contact details.

    HI

I have a Landcruiser 80 which is almost expedition ready

need to get front bumper (something like and ARB) , tyres, winch, Snorkel etc

even thinking about fitting a compressor

I'd be grateful if there are any better equipped people out there than me to help me out ?

I got an Ironman front winch bumper for my 80. Very, very happy with it but unfortunately I cannot recommend the company (in the UK) from whom I bought it....

    Hi

Thanks for getting back to me.
Your 80 looks amazing , mine is a bit more shabby :)

    Your bumper looks great
Can you recommend any other supplier of them ?

    Cheers

Was it Westcoast? I've had springs from him and other bits a few times and found him good. Might be a different story with something as big as a bumper with shipping and whatnot
