Connecting flight - Heathrow

Next month I'm off to Canada and I have a flight from Shannon to Toronto connecting via Heathrow.

My question is, when arriving at terminal 1 Heathrow do I have to collect luggage and go through security all over again for the connecting flight? I ask this as I have to get to terminal 5 for the Toronto flight.

I'm not stuck for time on the outward flight but on my return I haven't that much time to play with.

    Thanks.

Did you book all flights on one ticket? If not you may have to pick up bags, however if the carrier from Shannon to Heathrow has an agreement with the onward carrier you may get them checked through.

You'll need to check that first.

All booked as one with British Airways but I think the Shannon flights are operated by Aer Lingus under a BA flight number.

So when at Heathrow bus service outside terminal 1 for terminal 5?

    Many thaks.

I flew Dublin - US this year booked through BA with an Aer Lingus connection and this was the procedure:

When landing at Heathrow passengers with onward connecting flights will be asked to stay on the plane whilst the other passengers disembark. You will then exit to the rear of the plane and board a bus that will take you to terminal 5. Your bags will be checked straight through to the final destination from Dublin.

    Perfect, many thanks.
