help me set up my mic

    i want to use a laptop for music and voice

    i have an amp + speakers + laptop + mic

    i am connecting the laptop to the amp via the headphone socket
    the next problem is i need to be able to talk on a mic

    can i connect a mic into my laptop via the mic socket and play music at the same time while talking

    life would be much easier and quality better were you to splash out on a cheap audio interface to deal with this.

    OK, your friend's life would be much easier and quality better were they to splash out on a cheap audio interface to deal with this.

    Any remotely modern laptop will be able to playback and record simultaneously. However issues can arise if you are using seperate programs for each function, as one program can hog the soundcard.
