Original Desire - Any ICS ROMs?

Hi folks, my friend just bought an original desire (is there another name for this? There's Desire HD, Desire S etc, or is it just called The Original Desire?).

I said he should consider flashing a new ROM. Just wondering if there's any stable (Very Important) ICS ROMS or has the original desire been forgotten about and any new roms are only for newer models?

If there is a decent, stable one (I remember something like Wildchild was mentioned before?) are there any fool proof links to installing them? I have another Desire also I wouldn't mind flashing if there was a decent, stable, newer ROM with vast improvements so maybe could do the two phones at once so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

So Jelly Bean is the new ICS I'm guessing? Tempting, but the "Pre Beta" is a big put off, that just screams "bugs" to me :o

Would there be anything a lot more stable (even ICS) as a better alternative if we aren't into bug fixing, reporting and updating? I'm thinking a ROM that can be installed and just plain and simple WORK if there is such a thing :)

I'm using Evervolv ICS ROM, it's still beta but I'm happy with it. If you want a stable ROM go with Cyanogen

The mildwild roms are very stable, perhaps try the 5.0 CM version.

Ahh, MildWild was the one I was advised to go for before! I remember it being said to be very stable and lite also with a quick boot etc. Why are you suggestion the CM 5.0 version out of interest? I don't know any other versions, but if there are, why the CM 5.0 one? :)

Hi Guys. Without going through all the various roms, can anyone tell me if the camera is working on any of the roms mentioned above?
My OHs Desire is dog slow and I was going to factory reset but might give one of the ROMs above a try.

the 5.0 CM is the most recent mildwild one, more more reason than that.
He's also promised further updates once the summer ended, so some time soon.

Thanks again Micro, if 5.0 is a stable decent ROM, I'd probably be happy to go with that.

If anyone would be free for, what, I guess 30 minutes to guide us through the rooting/flashing process from start to finish over MSN/Skype/Gtalk and we'd throw a tenner through paypal, pop me a PM with IM details :) We'll be doing 2 desires at the one time so would be good to have an expert guide us, unless there's a fool proof guide somewhere that guides the process step by step.
