do previous owners have a right to items left in house?

so, if i were to buy a very old house and found items in the attic left by the previous owners, am i entitled to sell these items? if they turned out to be of historical value, am i still entitled to sell them? do the previous owners of the house have to be informed? do they need to be asked before i put these items up for…
