Did someone try to rob my car?

I recently got a 2008 Opel Astra car/van 1.3 cdti. It's in reasonably good condition. But I was checking the oil level today and pulled the van into are garage which is slightly dark. And I instantly say 3 marks as if someone tried to force a crobar inbeteew the gap at the roof top of the door. They are reasonably small but on one the paint has slightly chipped of. They weren't there yesterday. The only place I had the van today was in the supermarket car park. But it was nearly full today so I had to park it in the quite side kind of away from the main entrance. Do my question is did someone actually try and steel it today. I'm a bit shocked as it just a van and not worth a major amount of money. Its my first real car that I actually own I'm a bit shocked. From the experts are Astras easy to steel or something. I always thought opels had a dead lock system the little man and red light that comes on on the dash when you lock it am I wrong. Any advice would help thanks.

Sounds like it, perhaps you missed the marks and they were there earlier. But you know what they say ... forewarned is forearmed.. so take extra care;)

No I'd of seen them as i cleaned the van at the weekend. I am quite shocked it's only a astra van nothing special about it or anything.

They would be after the contents of the van, powertools in the back or something in plain view in the cabin that they can sell on. This is most likely true if you have window tint or anything hiding the contents where some people will assume you are carrying Kuwaiti bullion in the back. Nobody in their right mind unless they have been in the joy since 1980 would try to hotwire a modern car :D.

I know what your saying. The back window is tinted. But there is nothing in the back of the van I use it as a car. So if the idiot had got in he'd of been pritty dissappointed as all that on the back is a bottle of back to black and a jacket that's it ha. Would It be pritty impossible to start with out the keys as it has an immobiliser and steering lock etc etc.

No just the standard Opel Astra radio the one that's built in it must have been the supposed contents.

Supervalu but Aldi isn't that far away. Can't beat Opel deadlock systems. He wouldn't of got in unless he bought the angle grinder. Hopefully not there is nothing in the van of much value anyway hopefully it won't happen again.

That's all irrelevant. Van stereotypicaly means tradesman which means tools.

Leave it open with nothing of value inside to avoid theft damage. They might have a look but you wont suffer because of it.

Me hole, a T-Bar, a Flat head and a mallet and you're in.

If you don't have these tools a brick will do.

Best security it to leave nothing in the car.

If in a particularly dodgy area leave the glovebox and center box open also.

If you dont use it to carry tools then take some tint off, its pointless needlessly attracting this crap to your vehicle.
