Wheel Arch Bumper Spot

    Hi all,

Stupidly, I gently reversed into a van (not sure what make or model) last week. It really was only a gentle bump but I seemed to have caused a dent in the bumper part above the wheel - I did note a few other bumps but I'm certain enough that I caused the main one.

Anyway, in my defence, I could have legged it but I knocked on the door to let him know what I did and he said he would get 'his guy to have a look at it ....for cash'. So he's just come back to me today - quoted E350. But he did note that I did pop in and didn't drive away.

And I really don't to do this through insurance companies.

So, without knowling the make model year or amount of damage I caused, can anyone suggest if this is a reasonable price. I had E50 - E100 in my head but I picked that from no-where. Do you think that since he acknowledged the fact that I let him know without driving on that he got as good a price as he could - I'm not too worried if he hasn't shopped around as I have put him out and he goes to 'his' guy' as do I for other things.

Anyway - any advice would be obliged.

Not knowing the colour (metallic or self-coloured) it's hard to gauge. I can get excellent work done for 160-250 per panel but those are crazy low prices from a friend and would exclude the panel obviously - pull out or fill dent / scrape / scratch prep and paint to match. I think €350 is just about right (no cars hired or any of that nonsense).

Fair play to you for your honesty.

    I think it was metallic.

Hope I didn't sound like i was blowing my own trumpet - I was just hoping that the karma would see its way around to me with a fair price and it seems like it has.

    Thanks.

Paint is quite expensive nowadays. Most small bumps come in at above 200. Unless you know of someone good who can mix their own paint it will be difficult to get it for less.;)
