I have a Daewoo lanes 1999 with 150,000 miles on the clock.

The rear brake lines are rusted and need replacing, also needs timing belt and tyres.

Was trying to decide whether to sell car as is or pay to fix. Tyres will be €100 for part worns. How much will the timing Belt cost?

    Would appreciate any help/comments.

If it's cheaper than buying a new car, fix.
If you want to use this opportunity to get another car, don't fix.

    Happy to help :)

Afaik that model has an interference engine so if the timing belt snaps the valves can touch the piston = wrecked engine.

    OP,
Have a look on the bangernomics thread and you'll see the kinda stuff you can get for under €1000. Personally, I wouldn't bother if it needs an NCT. If not, drive it til the belt snaps/NCT is up.

Part Worn tyres are €25 each for 13 continentals.

So I suppose it depends how much the other two jobs cost. I would guess timing belt and water pump would be €300 and the rusted pipes could be cheap -Just some sand paper or could be pricey. Ill ring round a few places in the morning and see how much it will set me back.

€25 each ain't too bad for a bulk purchase but what will you do with the other 9? :pac:
