Registered this morning for my course and paid the first installment of my registration fee. When I clicked into 'Payment of fees' afterwards though, it says 'Amount now due 5511euro' ..... Does anyone know why it says this?

Are you checking this through your portal page? In my experience this can be hit or miss on showing the correct amount due depending on what page you look at. If you are looking at the 'step 8: fees payment' page under online registration, this is showing the wrong amount for me too. The link lower down the page under 'E-payment > payment of fees' shows me the correct amount I have remaining to pay.

Viewing it under step 8, I can't even access my portal page yet. I've sent them an email about it, hoping they'll just confirm that it's all okay. Also trying to find out if people generally only pay the first installment now and pay the rest closer to January, or, if it's better to pay the full amount now?

There is a benefit in paying the fees before 31st December. You can claim the tax back on fees for each year (20%), this is the tuition fees and not the registration fee. When you go to claim the tax back you can only claim tax back for the previous year up to Dec 31st. So if you wait till January to pay the rest you'll have to wait till the following year to claim it. Hope that makes sense! :)

Went in to pay my fees and the Amount Due was 0.

Now I've no issue with paying 0 but has this happened to anyone else?

My payment of the first installment (registration fee) has gone through, but, it STILL says that my outstanding balance is 5511euro.. I've emailed them about it but they still haven't answered this part of my query. All they've said is that the balance of 1125 needs to be paid by January 18th

Is anyone else having this problem?

I think this is a blip. It said that on mine too, paid my fees and it went away after a while. Someone else I know, who's on the grant, had it too. You just have to pay the 2200 or thereabouts.
