How to rectify bad skim plasterwork to prepare for painting?

We had a room dry lined about a month ago. The lads doing it did not impress me, they were brothers of my wife's friend and sure enough, when it came to the skim coat, the finish is BRUTAL! My wife insisted on paying them in full.

One guy came back and has agreed to try and rectify it, but isn't sure how??? Nor do I know. I presume it will be a case of fillers & sanding.

    Any other suggestions welcome.

What type of fillers would you recommend, what grade of sandpaper should he be using? I don't want to make a bad situation worse!

    Thanks in advance,

    T

polyfiller that you mix your self.
1st coat in matt paint and see just how bad it is
fill with a wide filling knife
    sanding with 120 grit
    give a real good dusting
paint again in matt.if matt doesnt take well then use a primer sealer example dulux sealapore
then fill again and coat again and again fill again if needed.

A tub of Febond applied to the fcuked up plastered walls and then re-skim the walls;)

Easier and less hassle in the long run.

Skim over skim with febond applied as a "grip coat" works perfectly.

Its the person you use to do the plastering, and how good and steady handed they are.;)
