    Hello,

I *really* screwed up and tried to clean my sensor myself without the correct equipment and made it worse. I have learned my lesson.

Anyone know where I can get it cleaned and cheaply? :)

    TIA,

    K

how badly did you "do it wrong"

taking care of the sensor is an important part as the sensor is a delicate piece of machinery.

In Dublin, Conn's, ISS and DML will take the camera ...but they will charge you for it(and it usually isn't cheap) ... DML were doing it for free at one stage but I think its implied that you purchase something when in the shop waiting for your camera sensor to get cleaned.

What equipment did you use to clean it and how did it go wrong ?

Eh made it dustier by blowing into it. Any idea what they charge? I think I'll just buy pec pads & eclipse solution my self.

have you tried holding it (the camera) upside down and using the blower brush - I assume you are only using a blower brush.

did you set the camera into clean mode ?

what type of camera do you have ?

if its only dust then a blower brush should be capable of fixing it...but if its larger bits you may need a wet clean (swabs and solution) ... pec pads will only pick up dry dust/dirt.

    Defo needs a wet clean.

I'll buy the solution during the week. Anyone know how much it would cost in a shop?

Worth going in to them, they will do it in front of you so you will learn how to do it yourself.

Fook that. I'll buy the solution and do it myself. Let's hope I don't shag it up more. I'll read instructions carefully.

Thanks all. Mods can lock this thread now as I have my answer.

Fluid and swabs will cost you approx 55 euro.
I would advise you to go to DML and have them clean it first. While there buy some swabs and fluid.

I was in with DML myself a couple of weeks ago and would highly recommend them,
I had tried cleaning the sensor myself and had made a decent attempt at it but there was still some specks of dust remaining on it and I was nervous about applying too much pressure and damaging the sensor..

Sensor and lens were cleaned there in front of me in about 5 minutes And as a novice to this it was well worth seeing how a professional done it so that I won't be that nervous the next time myself..
