    Basically asking, will this work?

Can currently get a good picture for the 4 Irish Stations with an indoor arial, and have been told that if this is the case I should be able to pick up Saorview also with an indoor arial.

In addition, the house I am in has an old dish, and I understand that with an Sky box or a Combi box I will be able to pick up the Free to air UK stations.

If all the above is true, will I be able to plug a saorview box and combi box in to an old analog TV, or a combi box into a new saorview tv and get both the Irish and UK stations?

A "combi" box, as understood here, is a combination satellite & terrestrial receiver. You wouldn't use one along with a separate Saorview box.

If you want a 7 day epg & interactive features on the satellite channels, go for a Freesat box along with a Saorview tv or receiver. Combis, even the Saorview certified ones, only have now & next info on satellite channels & no "red button" on satellite either.

The indoor aerial will work if the signal available to it is strong enough & the dish should be ok, provided it's aligned properly & the lnb & cables are still in working order.

So can the both the Saorview box and Freesat box be plugged into an Analog TV, or the Freesat box plugged into the Saorview TV, and get the services as above?

If its a case I'm not bothered about the above services can I still do the connections as above, but using a Combi instead of Freesat?

Apolagies not to hot on this. Is there such a thing as a single box or TV that will give me both Saorview and UK TV through the both the aerial and dish. I am aware that if in a boarder area there is boxes and TVs that do this with just an upgraded outdoor or attic aerial as my parents have this set up, unfortunatly I dont have that opiton where I'm living.

    :(

You can get a Samsung TV that does satellite and terestial but it is expensive.

A combibox would give a FTA satellite (no 7 day epg or red button and periodic retuning) and Saorview (no MHEG5 if not approved).

A Freesat reciever will give full UK television with red button and 7 day epg and no need to retune (providing it is left in standby at night) but no Saorview.

A Saorview receiver will give you full Irish TV, inc all future 'enhancements'.

A TV that is Saorview approved together with a Freesat receiver is the best value solution in my opinion.

    A bit of consumer advice.

A HD Combo box (regardless of the manufacturer) costs less than €100.

There used to be a sticky with them all the ones that will work (under €200 at the time) but they have become more affordable €100 mark now. I will do up a new one.

They will not give you the MHEG5 text (but will give you Aertel as long as its broadcast)

They will not give you 7 day epg on satellite just now and next info.

But you can have all your channels in one list, in what order you want, using one remote control.

I see Power City have finally got stock of the Walker 32in TV with integrated sat tuner. I'm told bigger sizes are expected.
