I'm trying to switch between Composite and HDMI on a Sony Bravia tv for the ps3.I've tried everything I can that I find online but with no luck.

When I go to Display Settings and choose the HDMI option, nothing happens. Can anyone help?

With the PS3 powered off, press and hold the PS button for 5 seconds til you hear the second beep.
Then press the PS button to power on the PS3 - it will then say it detects an HDMI cable and ask if you want to use this - confirm that you do and all is well.

Check if its in fully, try plugging it into something else .. The likely case is the HDMI cable is broke..

I've tried resetting the ps3 settings and it's not the hdmi cable because I tried the same one I use for the Sky box. It's not the tv because all the hdmi ports are working fine.Is it possible that whatever part of the ps3 that's responsible for the hd part is not working?

Did you read my previous post?
It has nothing to do with the PS3 settings.

As F1ngers said you can reset the video settings by holding down the Power button for a few seconds.

Here's a video to show you how exactly to do it.

When you connect a PS3 via HDMI does it not automatically reset it to HDMI ?

If it's the first time you connect up your PS3 - yes.
However, if you go from HDMI to composite(I assume) OR composite to HDMI, you have to do what's in the video.

Do you have both composite and HDMI cables attached to the PS3 at the same time, silly billy?

As mentioned by F1ngers, or just power down then back on again. PS3 will auto detect the HDMI on power on.

I go from component to HDMI all the time without reset.. Maybe composite is different then.. You always have to reset when going from HDMI to component though.. Confusing stuff:P

I've tried all the above but it still not working.I'm thinking the HD component inside the ps3 may not be working?

    Try another tv first.
