Somebody might be able to clear this one up for me...

I've alway thought that 2nd and 3rd cut silage was grass harvested off the same ground after the first cut.

However, I've heard a few lads on here talking about doing their 2nd cut silage, which appears to me to be off different ground, just that it was cut a few weeks after the first bit. Is this technically second cut??

As the 2 previous posts. But I have seen posts saying second cut off ground that hasn't been cut in the year, thought it very strange way of thinking

If ground was grazed early in the year and was topped in june and fertlizer applied and left grow it would be much the same as 2nd cut. Maybe owner is trying to differencate from some silage ground that was not cut yet this year and farmers are still trying to sell.
