Whats the best freeware for detecting drivers?

    As it says in title, looking for something to detect drivers.

    Device manager not good enough for you? Tells you the publisher, the version and the release date for each device driver. What more is there to detect? ;)

    Only if you have the correct drivers loaded.

    If you're missing drivers, and you haven't a full list of the hardware, it is possible but a pain in the ass to manually look up the device & vendor id hex code under unknown devices, and manually trawl for a suitable driver.

    This should be the last resort, first check the OEM website for the latest drivers approved for your particular model. If you install drivers obtained from the part manufacturer, there is always a risk that they do not play well with with the whole package (same goes for these so-called "automatic driver updaters"). OEMs usually test the drivers before they publish them on their website.
