Dave McCarton in RE Auto,Prob the best most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with,Will always phone before going ahead with any work and will always give you an option or the cheap part or the good part and explain you're options, Do a search on here and you'll see the reviews he has had!

In 2010 My husband went to ADF motors Maynooth for a tyre repair. Was driving down to Tipp after and heard rattling. It turned out they never tightened the nuts properly. When contacted they apologised and We let it go as a once off mistake. A few months later I asked for a quote as was having problems with the engine. Was quoted €1100. Got a second quote from Westside Motors in Kilcock -€140. I have been going to Westside ever since. As a car clueless female I have found all the staff at Westside very genuine and easy to deal with. Have just moved to Wicklow so unfortunately now have to start looking for a local mechanic again

Wheel nuts always need to be checked after a number of miles - it'll be printed on the invoice

I've been to a 3 mechanics in Maynooth and not been particularly impressed with them. No horror stories so I won't name names, I just found the ones I'd been to not great in terms of thoroughness and attentiveness. Not noticing an pretty serious oil leak in a general service, even though I stated I wasn't happy with the rate the oil was burning. Not coming back to me to finish jobs etc.

Since then I've been using Alan Nolan in Celbridge, who my family have always gone to. Bit of a pain logistically for me to drop the car etc, but by-jaysus is he worth it. Honest, thorough, no bullshit, and very customer focused.

I'm looking to get 4 new tyres on my car but anytime I'm downtown the place near Manor Mills always seems to be closed.

Can anyone recommend a place in the Maynooth area?

I think that place is possibly gone now, unless someone has bought it- saw the business up for sale a while ago.

There's a guy in behind Applegreen in Celbridge that's great for tyres- can't for the life of me remember the name of the place though!!

There's a mechanic opposite Lidl on Straffan Road - I didn't have a fantastic experience with him really. My car failed the NCT earlier this year, for brake lines and imbalance of the handbrake. Brought it to him, he charged me 150 euro to fix them - BUT he carelessly misread the NCT report, and worked on the wrong side of the car, so when I brought it back to be retested it failed a second time. There's been other little things as well, like getting my car back with black greasy handprints on the grey felt material on the inner wall of the car. I haven't needed any work done sine thank god but would go somewhere else next time.
