If I were in the States I'd be asking at least 20%. Whats a realistic haggle ploy when buying a watch from Weirs....I think I got 10% once but that was many years ago during celtic tiger

Im not sure they will go much more sunny, but you never know, if its a rolex im guessing 10% is very good, if a breitling id want a lot more!

in general we tend to get better discounts here on rolex and panerai (in that discounts are attainable) than in the UK.

What are you looking at, is there another AD in ireland?

sheerans do them aswell so id play them off of each other :)

whats rrp on the new PO?

I thought Sheerans lost their Omega selling rights...must take a look. The new PO 8500 coax is around 4400

yea, Sheerans don't do Omega any more - bought a Seamaster in Weirs a few years ago for a friend, and all I could get was 10%.

I can't see them discounting if they've the only dealership - the BT omega's gone also

there's a Mint one on TZ for £3000 at the moment

any flight through heathrow is an easy 17% and they may do more?

there's also on here on Watchdeal for €3590

    http://watchdeal.de/manufacturer-a-z/Omega/Omega-Seamaster-Planet-Ocean-232-30-42-21-01-001-New-and-unworn::4618.html

that price is surely possible form Weirs - if they wanted to - problem is they probably won't want to!

Seen that...it's a 45 and I know thats too big for me

Weirs can be hit and miss with discounts.

However they have an interesting price policy. When I was purchasing, few years back, they priced the watch on the day they purchased it, so if a watch was purchased prior to a price increase it was sold it at the lower price.

Everything else about 10%. No one can beat grey dealers.

Somebody on TZ-UK said they were offered €600 discount on a no-date sub ceramic. Not sure what percentage that works out at...

less than 10% anyway, i think the sub is €6,800 or something,

but better than the 0% in the UK

Managed 10% guys! I started off at 15% but no chance, straight into 'we can only do 10%'

Ok guys got the Planet Ocean Liquidmetal! I was originally planning to get something less expensive but what the hell, it's a good looking watch and going by the chatter still in the forums about it I don't think I'll lose much money on it if and when I flip it

    lol good man

not much of a downsize :D

lol indeed....think I spared myself one and half grand from that exercise.
I think I've found the Rolex that truley reflects me and that I'm extremely happy with in the Exp 2. I always had a small sense of guilt wearing the Sub C as its just so intantly recognisable as Rolex, even though it is one hell of a watch. Plus I was hardly wearing it since the Exp 2 came on the scene (Cyrus- it was you that put the thought in my head so I can blame you for this lol)
I think moving back to the Omega camp is a little more low key

Do you mind me asking what the PO RRP is?

my subC isnt for flipping (present from Mrs Cyrus), however the exp 2 is fair game

The new PO 8500 coax is around the €4500 mark (then take off 10%) I didn't note RRP closely as I was focused on getting a good discount. They had the 42 and the 45. They also had the Skyfall 007 PO. They also had a couple of the 2500 coax POs left.

Well done – lovely watch – the liquid metal and the display back are lovely!!

Do you mind if I ask, what made you go the AD route for the "minimal" 10% and not explore grey options further?

Not in any way criticising, genuinely curious, as I’ll be hopefully getting something around that price point in the next few months, and in two minds how to go about

I went for the Planet Ocean Liquidmetal limited edition (1948) version with the ceramic dial. These are sold out world wide and from the forums I'm in have a very strong following. These watches were originally only available via the Omega boutiques - I suspect my one came from Brown Thomas when the boutique closed down. I found this one and noted it to be cheaper than the used ones going used in other forums

I had a good look and tried to convince myself of the newer coax 8500 POs but I just felt they were too thick

I didn't realise it was a limited edition (without the display back) getting mixed up!

from the photos on that link though it's gorgeous!

Weir's offered me 10% on a Tag Grand Carrera. My maxed out budget implied 14% off their sticker price. they wouldn't budge a single cent even when I waved a bunch of 50s at em & said I wanted to buy it there and then

Sheeran's did it for my price & their sticker price was slightly higher. Think it worked out at 16% off there

It does show how crap they are as a dealer though -discounting a watch which trades at a premium in the second hand market (or so I have seen in the US) but not optimising turnover through keen pricing of standard models. What did you pay net net? I once tried to buy 3 Omegas in Weirs and they told me I'd have to come back later to dscuss discounts!! You might be amused to hear I got better effective discounts at an Omega boutique where discounting is supposed to be verboten.
