Kildare CoCo - Rant

Athy is having the main street repaved. Long overdue, but WHY do Kildare CoCo need ELEVEN men to do traffic duty in addition to copious signs at night?.

2 at the junction with Kildare road - just looking
2 at the train station turn where the detour started (well signposted)
3 at the min roundabout 2 metres on
2 at the junction of church road and carlow road
    2 at Xtravision

No doubt all these guys were on double time.

If Kildare Co Co want household tax to be paid, they will have to stop this blatant waste of money.

The traffic management could have been done with a max of three without any problems whatsoever.

It is the time for road works as budgets need to be spent.

Clane main street and by pass is been resurfaced at the moment.

County Councils have no idea how to get value for money.

The builders know what the budget is and will tender for that amount.

There is no point asking here, but I would love to here their reply. Why not ask them.

    Where they contractors?

I work in infrastructure and when we need traffic management we usually get 3 men to do it. But some jobs require more in order to divert HGVs or to calm traffic .

Don't bother asking the council, anyone I've ever communicated with from the roads department is rude, abrasive and wilfully misinformed. Some interesting stuff to be found by Googling them too...

I presume they were contractors who tendered for the job so the wages are being paid by them out of the agreed price.

all of the traffic guys are co.co men, I assumed the co.co men were also doing the resurfacing.
I must say, in my many years of looking at road building and roadworks, this is one of the best I have ever seen, the finish is great, the work completed is above standard, I am actually amazed at the work done so far, my only hope is within the next week they do the carlow road out to coneyboro.

Did as suggested - googling KCC - and came up with this:

    Councillors for Naas area: 5
Cllrs for Kildare area : 6
Cllrs for Celbridge area : 6
Cllrs for Athy area : 4
Cllrs for Clane area : 4

    Got this info from: http://kildare.ie/CountyCouncil/CorporateServices/CorporateServices/MembersServices/Councillors/

According to Wikipedia, we have a population of 210,312, quoting the 2011 census, which equates to a cllr for every 8412 people. And then there are of course 3 TD's.

In addition to the above, there are 4 TD's for Kildare North.

Really, the public service is a gravy train and a drain on the County/Country's finances????? Nah...rather get a 100 quid off every household, rather than cut down on the overheads:mad::mad::mad:

I doubt if KCC men are doing resurfacing unless it's minor repairs, they don't have the big machinery or people required.
