Issue with Audioengine W3 Help!!!

Folks, I have the above connected from my iMac to a pair of Audioengine A5+ and I must say I am extremely dissappointed. The sound volume is very low and even when I incresae the output volume from the iMac it makes little difference. Has anybody else encountered this problem? thanks
