    i wasnt attacked.

You still should have called them. What good is posting that message here without speaking to the Gardai?

    i wasnt attacked.

So you posted it on the internet instead? Pointless. How the hell is the person going to be prosecuted if witnesses don't have the stones to come forward?

    Note

If the Guards decide to release any details of the individual or vehicle involved it's OK to post a link. If not, do not post any such details here

Any questions PM me - do not respond in-thread

This thread is hilarious. It reminds me of a jokey e-mail a friend of mine sent me titled Irishness is

One of the lines was - 'Calling Joe Duffy instead of the Gardai'

Now people go on Boards.ie instead of calling the Guards!!!

The whole thing doesn't really add up - if you were a cyclist and somebody got out of a van and comes at you with a crowbar, anyone with a brain would be getting the hell outta there not waiting to get attacked. I know I would.

So did you call an ambulance?

OP - thanks for coming on and letting us know.

If you witnessed anything at all it'd be very helpful if you went to your local garda station and let them know that if the person attacked does want to pursue it, that you'll also back him up as a witness. It's up to you but it's a very helpful thing to do so it's not just a cyclist vs a crazy driver who assaulted him.

Also, around about what area in Dublin did this happen? Clearly you're not going to give your address, but maybe the general area?

Relax, he says it happened a few days ago and the gardai know about it, so it's not like s/he just rushed on here first.

Also, I can think of loads of way a cyclist may not be able to get away fast.

Maybe putting up a brief description of possible road rage followed by one liner answers isn't the best way to tell a story or get a point out there.

Yis are all very brave when it's not you that has to go in the witness box.

Here, it's not a mafia trial. It's road rage.

OP - thanks for alerting us to this

As already pointed out this sort of thing should be reported to the Guards. If they decide to release further information in the hope of securing a prosecution, PM me and I will re-open the thread to link to the relevant infromation. In the meantime I don't think anything useful will come from keeping the thread open
