How long will it takes to fix the minor bumper damage

Just got two quotes from different repairers.

One told me it will take a full day to get the work done. The other guy told me it takes as little is 2 hours. The bumper need a repaint as well. So I am expecting at least 4-6 hours.

Now, is this true that kind of scuffs can be done in 2 hours? And is it true that paint works can be done onsite and not in at least the garage? Won't the dust and other small objects gets on to the repaint place and leave a bad look. Or maybe I just worried too much?

I will upload the image again or you can see my other post regards front bumper fix thread.

It's first time happens to me, so lots of questions and doubts.

Thank you very much for any comments.

How long is a piece of string, is what you are asking! :)

    Are you on a budget?
Do you want it done right?

Its going to take a few hours to get a flawless finish! I really depends on what you are willing to spend and to what standard you want! You could do a job on it yourself in 30 mins with a tin of paint from the local motor factors - but would it be to a high enough standard!

Thank you Curran. Yes,of course I want it back to previous glory. Any suggestion place to go and can get the job done in higher standard?

Heard mixed reviews about Carcarft, but they are probably the people to go to for a smart repair if you are looking to keep it cheap

Spray painters may not take on a small job, such as a touch up, so might be a full bumper job! But these come highly recommended from people I know who have had work done.
    BC Designs - Walkinstown
Declan Magee, Lusk Car Care - Lusk

I'd recommend Carcraft - any work they've done for me has been excellent. Not sure they'd be classified as a SMART repairer - they're a full bodyshop. Prices are excellent from my experience.

One of the traditional SMART repairer's who call out to your place will do a fine job as well usually - there is a chance that the paint will get contaminated alright - especially if its a large section being painted, but they usually use a smaller gun, and quick drying paints.

If the full bumper needs to be sprayed I'd be taking it to a bodyshop like Carcraft though.

Thank you. I am comparing between chipsaway and carcraft. They quote me similar price, no big difference.

Did anyone use or hear about chipsaway? Are they good?

Also my curious, do I need leave car key with them or the door unlocked or what should I do if only exterior works are needed?

My bad...thought Carcraft were a smart repair type company....must be confusing them with a different company

Check out Mark Donnelly in Rathangan as well - very good work and very good value as well. he's done a few bits like this for me over the years.

I've used chipsaway in the past - probably older technology at the time. They essentially mixed up some paint, and filled in some chips with a paintbrush. I was happy with the work - I'd imagine the quality would be decent, but I'd personally go with Carcraft if the prices are comparable.

I think thats the sort of work they marketed themselves at originally - their first premises didn't have a spray booth, and there were just two lads working there. They moved around the corner and have a good setup now.

Cause it's my first time to go to a repair shop. So I am not sure if I need to leave the car key for them or just locked and go away? Since I am not expecting any works needed for inside the car or open bonnet. And I heard some bad experience from people when they send a car to garage to fix one thing, but comes out with more problems after a day or two sent to for repair (I mean mechanical issues not like this type of bodywork)

    Thanks

They'll need the keys - the car will need to be moved around. Have never heard of any similar issues to the ones you mentioned - make a note of the mileage when dropping it off if its a concern, and explain that you don't want the car being driven.

Thank you KD. From your experience at chipsaway and count them did a decent job on your car, so by looking at my front bumper damage will the scuffs in below image be fixed with no problems for them as it is quite small (I attached an image here)? And they do this onsite. Will I be expecting to get the bumper back to previous new condition?

Or I should really go for carcraft?

I am also waiting for ashmore ryder to come back with the quote.

    Thank you.

The work chips away did for me isn't really comparable with what you need done to be honest.

A significant section of your bumper does need to be sprayed to ensure the work blends in seamlessly. Ideally, you want to paint panels in warm conditions - i.e. a heated spray booth - its not as easy to do that on your driveway. ChipsAway will probably use portable heating to replicate that. I can't imagine that ChipsAway would do the job if they couldn't get it like new though.

That said, since I've used Carcraft a fair bit I'd go with them. Might ultimately depend on whats most convenient for you though.

    Hmmm, I agreed!

Seems carcraft is the right place to go. I will post an image after the work done.

BTW, do you receive a complementary valet? should I expecting that service as part of the work?

I've never gotten one! Prices have generally been so reasonable that it wouldn't concern me though - and I'd be worried in case they don't use the two bucket method on my paintwork :)
