Any recommendations similar to them two?

And so I can go looking up on various sites, what would ye class them as? Deep House?

I guess they're deep house but that genre covers so much more so I wouldn't really look just at that genre for similar acts.

Maybe check out the Crosstown Rebels record label or any of the Resident Advisor Top 50 tracks of the month for the any of the months over the last year or so. They seem to get all jizzy in their belly over that sound.

I'd say Maceo Plex and Nicolas Jaar are nothing alike so that's a difficult one, you might be getting that from his remixes or maybe his early releases.

His LP defines his sound for me and finding similar stuff isn't easy.

Anything on Clown And Sunset; Soul Keita, Nikita Quasim or some of Jaar's own collaboration work (here's one with Dave Harrington) would do the job.

If you're looking for a more house focused sound, ala Maceo Plex, then as ianuss said; Crosstown is where it's at (for similar Maceo Plex sounds, not deep house in general).

Tale of Us, Soul Clap, Solomun, Tensnake etc. would be some of the better ones to check out of the top of my head.

If you like Maceo Plex, you should check out Huxley, Maya Jane Coles, Behling and Simpson, and Subb-an.

    Hey guys,

Sorry about the ambiguity of my OP. I didn't mean to suggest that Plex and Jaar are similar, I meant that they're two djs that I've liked recently and can you give me others like them.

Thanks a million for the recommendations. Have so far looked up Solomun and Tale of Us. Fairly impressed by some of their stuff, but can take or leave others. That's music I suppose.

I wish I could convey in words EXACTLY they type of tune I like as I find that 90% of the stuff I hear on Hypem, Beatport etc is **** and I find myself wasting a lot time sourcing stuff. I'm not good with categories or labels unfortunately.

    I like

that Solomun tune above (The Way Back),
    Aaron by Kalkbrenner,
Can't Leave You by Maceo Plex,
The Sky was Pink by Nathan Fake

    and stuff like that.

    I guess there's a Berlin influence/minimal influence there?

I'd recommend using Lastfm if you're just looking for a good way to discover similar music you like.

So if you like Kalkbrenner check his lastfm profile and it will give you similar artists and their top played tracks.

    http://www.last.fm/music/Paul+Kalkbrenner

Then off to Youtube with ya! ;)
