Looking for an honest mechanic in the Swords area!

I dropped my motor in with a one of the chains who do free pre inspection tests and they rang me back with a list of things that need to be fixed that I know was over blown so I said I'd take it back and see if I could source parts to bring the cost down. I get a ring back 10 minutes later from another of their mechanics telling me that the problems weren't nearly as severe and asked if I wanted it put back together to collect or if I'd be leaving it with them so basically admitting what the other guy had said was a crock of scheiss.

So the question is, are there any decent honest mechanics in or around the Swords area!?

Sorry. Don't know anywhere in Swords. You might ask friends or neighbours in the area. The nct pre-test is the biggest money racket of late. I certainly wouldn't trust the garage you mentioned, based on what you've said. The places that are busy most days and have been in business a long time are the places to try. An empty garage relying on pre nct crap is just a red flag to me.

Paul Nolan up in the port tunnel business park, clonshaugh, Dublin 17. Is the most honest Mechanic I have met, not too far from Swords if you follow the old Swords road.

You could also try Rory Butterly, based near Rush / Lusk railway station. 01 8438899 or 086 2632878.

That's who I went with in the end, was out in Donabate with a friend and we dropped into Matt Halpin(who was recommended to someone else in another thread) but he's booked up for weeks. He recommended Charlie McGrane, turns out Charlies father used to service my Mum's Mini something like 20 odd years ago!

Thanks for all the responses guys, much appreciated!
