RTE Guide/Penguin Ireland Short Story Competition

    Hey Folks,

Just wanted to throw something out there that some of you may be able to advise me on.

I sent off two short stories to the RTE Guide/Penguin Ireland short story competition earlier on this summer, and I recently got word back that i'd been longlisted for one or other of them. Now, i don't know whether they longlist all entrants or what, but I'm going to a workshop type thing this week where there'll be professional writers and "industry figures" (don't know what that means). I'm just wondering has anyone been to one of these things before, have any advice for anything i should say, or do, or anyone i should meet? This is with an eye to getting published, I mean. It just struck me that someone around here might have had this experience before, may have some advice.

    Thanks anyway!
    Niall
