    Hi,

Well I still havnt sent my grant application back to DCC. Im pretty sure it wont be sorted out until after we go back.

If I pay me fees for the first semester how long does it take to have them refunded.

I plan on sending my form today.

Just rang the fees office about my payments etc., and the lady was mad helpful. They might let you off until you hear back from DCC. Is there a closing date on that tho?

I've heard that your student card won't work if you don't pay the fees, so you couldn't take out books or the like but you would be ok to attend lectures. Not bible though, so definitely give them a shout.

Two years ago, I was in Trinners and left in January, meaning I only had to pay for one semester, and I didn't get a refund until Mayish. Not sure if that is a typical waiting time. It probably depends on the demands on the office.

You are perfectly okay to attend lectures. It becomes iffy if you're a first year around labs/tutorials/mid-term tests that need your student card as i.d. Contact your relevant departments for more info on that. As Lumie said though, you won't be able to borrow books from the library.

Heya .. I did that last year.. you only have to pay a 1000 of the fees to get your card to work if thats the issue.. the time it takes for the money to come through depends on your cc tbh... I was told I was lucky and that mine was quick.. it was around Easter :L

I got my money back 3-4 weeks after I got my grant approved.

I was unsure as to whether I was getting a grant when going into first year, or what exactly i had to pay or what story was with anything.

I paid the reg fee after finding out that I would get it back once i heard about the grant. I paid it at the end of August before I started first year, and found out I was entitled to grant a few weeks later.

It was the end of may, of my second year of study, ~20 months, before i got my money back, after untold amounts or back and forth bullhuueey! This was the old grant system.
I believe or am led to believe (irregardless of how bad their website site is) this new SUSI thing is a whole different kettle of fish and if reg fee is paid and grant is awarded after that fact it will be refunded in due time. My experience is most likely indicative of the many problems with the old system and nothing to worry about. also, trousers, they are not talked about enough.

I emailed the fees office and I was told that because I got a grant last year as long as I pay my €92 then everything will be fine until the grant is approved.
