Hi Guys. I have a Grey Ferguson 20 Diesel, and it has not been started for the past 12 months. I checked it the other day, and there is a crack in the sump. Checked the dipstick, ''dry no oil''. Now it looks as if it was welded before at some stage, and it seems to be leaking at or around the weld. My Questions are, is it difficult to remove the Sump, as i have no idea how its done ?, can it be Welded again,? and where can i purchase (if i have to) a Sump and Gasket, and what price you would think i would pay for those. Guys sorry for all the Questions, and Many Thanks.

Its easy enough remove the sump , remove the bolts under neath around the edge of the sump where its bolted to the engine block, its hard enough to get a sump 2nd hand , gasket paste will do to seal it,

Many thanks John J.Lyons, for your reply. Removed the Sump today ( with your help). It has been Welded a good few times before. Now i have to see, if i can find where its leaking. Yea i have did some checking on the Net, and looks like theirs no Secondhand ones, anywhere to be got. Thanks again for the help.

John J.Lyons many thanks, you may be a life-saver for me yet. When ever you get time, you might check the other one. Thanks again. ps I could send on a couple of photos of the cracked one i have, to show you the condition its in ( thats if the Mod here permits me to do so) if you want.

Post it on the thread, you'll need to reduce it's size or use photobucket or similar to host it, think you need to have done 10 posts first though.

As the sump isn't under pressure you could try sealing the crack with epoxy resin or epoxy putty, you'd have to get it very clean first with solvent.
