Hi there. Having problems with a 320d after a recon turbo was fitted. Its very sluggish, hard on diesel. Turbo doesn't seem to be boosting properly. It has a vaccum operated actuator. Actuator moves freely by hand. When you unplug the pressure converter or pull off the vaccum pipe to turbo there's mental power!! Map sensor was blocked so I removed inlet manifold and cleaned then fitted a new sensor. Unplugging maf sensor makes no difference either.

Most likely a vacuum pipe loose or disconnected. Had the same problem recently and found it to be a perished vacuum pipe onto a boost sensor. Best to have it plugged in and view the live data for the boost sensors and see what thier doing.

Has the ECU reverted to a limp home/ LOS map because of a fault it has found in the engine management? In this instance the car wouldn't boost i.e. the wastegate would be actuated and bypass the boosted airflow. I would suggest getting a diagnostic plug in

given that a good few pipes were pulled there's a chance a pipe or one way valve was fitted arseways

Thanks for the replies. He decided to go back to the garage that fitted the new turbo. He had a months warranty left
