    Hi Guys,

The company I work for is on the downward spiral. Total of about 150 employees left .
In the last week they have left about 20 people go (Including about 10 redundancies). Now I myself would be in a position to take redundancy(Im toying with the idea of going to Australia) - Could I actually volunteer myself or apply for redundancy?

Bad idea to volunteer for these things! they might "hold out" if they think you're toying with the idea of leaving anyway. Even worse, they could say you aren't committed to the future of the company and sack you that way!

Companies will usually target specific employees for voluntary severance so wait until you're offered.

I can see exactly where your coming from but they know themselves that the moral in the place is shot to pieces and nobody wants to be there :)
One thing i forgot to mention - Im only over the 2 year mark so it would be cheaper to shift me than someone else :)

Huh? How can you be sacked for allegedly not being committed to the company's future?

Yeah, that would be worse all right especially if you're trying to fight an unfair dismissal case from 16,000km away :D.

I think the word unfairly would be a better fit, unless of course the OP is highly paid with a long notice provision in his contract.
