Horse manure can carry seeds of weeds that the horse ate. Chicken manure tends to be weed free, but needs time to rot as it can contain a lot of ammonia. If there is a poultry farm or stables in your area, they'd let you take the stuff for free. You can buy also chicken manure pellets in many places, but it would take a lot to cover three allotments.
