I'm weighing up the cost of flying over to amsterdam and driving a car home vs the cost just getting it picked up and shipped to me.

Anyone have any experience of this?

I'm looking at approx 600 Euro with flights there, ferry to newcastle, driving across UK, and ferry to Ireland.

Or 400 driving from amsterdam to france (800km) and ferry home to ireland.

Any thoughts? On a company to ship it back? Cost?

Just do the Calais - Dover or Dunkerque - Dover, much faster and cheaper.

Shipping it back would be crazy money, you'd pay 300 euros just to ship a few boxes with freight.

Ferry it all the way. It was costing a fortune to ship a couple of crates from Sweden to Ireland 2 years ago. It was cheaper to drive a van there, load it up and drive back. We did the tunnel to UK and ferry home, but it was cheaper tha ferry from mainland to uk and uk to ireland.

Dont knock the shipping method untill you can get a few quotes first. I've got a car being transhipped via rotterdam next month and apparently alot of cars are transported via there.

Some of the below might be able to give you a concrete price
    Paragon Trading 01 -8400615
    Mcc customs brokers 01 -8363408
